Former Olympian Solange Cordeiro De Souza to Join the Field

Honored with the Indy Women’s “Trailblazer Award” for Her Perseverance Throughout Her Career

Today the Indy Women’s Half Marathon and 5K announced that Solange Cordeiro de Souza is being honored with the second “Indy Women’s Trailblazer Award” for 2018. The Indy Women’s Trailblazer Award program, previously called the “Phenomenal Women” award, honors women who strive to make a difference in the lives of others, women who inspire others to succeed, and women who support other women and encourage them to lead healthy lifestyles. De Souza, who ran the marathon in the 1996 Olympic Games for her native country Brazil, is now an Indianapolis resident who had to overcome numerous obstacles in her quest to be a world-class runner, will share her story at the Fitness Expo. She will also run the 5K on Sept. 29, giving women the opportunity to run a 5K alongside an Olympian!ran the half marathon or 5K event.
